Massed cycle ride to show that we care about Climate Change!
As part of the 'International Day of Climate Action' called by 350.org, Transition Ipswich is staging a bike ride around Ipswich to celebrate cycling as a means of transport that doesn't produce greenhouse gas emissions.
Start in Christchurch Park at the front of Christchurch Mansion - meet at 11am - where we'll have a photo taken that will be sent to 350.org.
We'll then cycle around the town centre, ending up at The People's Community Garden at around 12.30pm. Bring a picnic lunch to have at the garden. The garden is having it's Open Day that day, and so there will be an opportunity to see round the garden, and buy tea, coffee and cakes.
If you're interested in taking part, please contact Mary Dunn 01473 289531. This will give us an idea of numbers and allow us to keep you informed in the run up to the event. Please also read the guidance for cyclists (includes the route map).

Local members of the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition will be manning a stall on the Cornhill, 10am - 4pm. The stall will be opened at 10am by the Mayor of Ipswich Councillor David Goldsmith and The Right Revd Jeremy Walsh.
Advice will be available on reducing CO2 emissions from your use of energy at home (heating, hot water, lighting, appliances, etc.).
Stop Climate Chaos believes Climate change is the greatest threat to humanity and the world’s ecosystems. We have fewer than 100 months to reverse the growth in global carbon emissions, otherwise global warming will almost certainly exceed the danger threshold of 2 degrees C.
The UN Climate Change negotiations in Copenhagen this December are the most important international talks in the history of humankind. They must deliver a fair global deal to keep us all safe from dangerous and irreversible climate chaos.
As one of the countries that bears the greatest historical responsibility for climate change, the UK must show leadership by driving down our carbon emissions by at least 40% by 2020 through domestic action, and call on other rich countries to do the same.
The UK must lead by example to inspire a fair global deal that keeps global warming under 2 degrees C and supports those countries least responsible for, and most vulnerable to, climate change.
The Stop Climate Chaos Coalition calls on the UK Government to:
