David Shemming

2014 General 160a

It is with great sadness that we to have to tell you that David Shemming our co-ordinator and long standing member, has lost his fight with the illnesses that had plagued him for many months. It was a great shock to us as he was always so cheerful and full of optimism and indeed praise for the hospital staff who seemed genuinely baffled as to the underlying cause of his problems.

David was such stalwart of the Friends of Belstead Brook Park that we will really miss him very much. It was typical of his commitment to us, that he continued to prepare our mid-morning refreshments despite not being able to come out himself, which must have been tough for him.

David had volunteered with the Greenways Project for many years since his retirement and made many friends through the project. He was always so jolly and positive about everything which made him great to work with and why he will be so sadly missed by FoBBP and Greenways volunteers alike.

Over the years David has made a huge contribution to Belstead Brook Park and other sites to benefit both wildlife and people, which won’t be forgotten. We offer our sincere sympathies to his wife Christine and family.
